Tenth Jubilee Competition for the "Sofia Dance Grand Prix"

The Association of Dance Ensambles, headed by Acad. Krassimir Petrov, held the Tenth Anniversary Contest "Sofia Dance Grand Prix" on 22 and 29 April 2017. This competition has established itself as the only one in Bulgaria in this format. It includes teams for classical, modern, hip-hop dances and Bulgarian folk dances. About 15,000 dancers aged 10 to 18, as well as older dancers, participated in the contests so far.

In the competition for these ten years participated prominent amateur teams from Sofia and the country as "Veda Junior", "Estreya", "Color Dreams", "Sofiatik - Live", "Emotion", "Zarenitsa" - town of Smolyan, ballet "Iva" - town of Pazardjik, "Megy-dance" ballet, "Alegreta" dance studio, as well as the folklore ensembles -– "Bogovitsa", "Sredets", State Youth Folklore Ensemble(SYFE) "Izvorche", the ensembles "Veselie" town of Simitli, "Mezdra", "Pirin Dance Ensemble", "Pirinska Kitka", "Pirinche", "Ima- nema", "Folklorika", "Stefan Zhelyazkov" - Varna, "New Generation" and others.
The competition is traditionally held at the Trade Union House of Transport Workers in Sofia and is evaluated by two juries with members Dr. Bonka Matova, Anatoly Klockov, Lyudmila Stoeva, Prof. Dr. Daniela Dzheneva, Lyubcho Vassilev and Hristofor Radanov. The competition regulation ensures accurate, professional and correct team rating. All ensembles receive certificates of participation, and the most prominent - diplomas, plaques and other awards.
The competition aims to stimulate choreographers to create new dance works in different genres of dance and to educate children and young people through beautiful and highly influential art of the dance.
In each creative season the Association of Dance Ensembles organizes traditional concerts dedicated to Sofia Day September 17, November 1 - The Day of People's Revival, Christmas concerts and on March 3 - National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria.
For BASA, the activity of academician Krassimir Petrov and the activity of Association of Dance Ensembles present that part of the Bulgarian society that works for the preservation of the Bulgarian national spirit and identity.
In connection with the jubilee concert, performed with the support of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Acad. Krassimir Petrov and Association of Dance Ensembles were honored by the Academy with Greeting Address.
