Spring session of the General meeting of BASA – 2017
On April 22, 2017 was held the spring session of the General meeting of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA).
The meeting was opened by its chairman, academician Dobrin Svinarov and started by standing by all the attendants and hearing of the Hymn of the Republic of Bulgaria - Mila Rodino and The Hymn of United Bulgaria - Shumi Maritsa.
Academician Margarita Kamenova, Secretary General of BASA, read prayer.
With one minute's silence, the memory of three deceased members of the Academy was honoured.
The Chairman of BASA Academician Grigor Velev welcomed the participants and gave a brief overview of the events during the period concerning the functioning of the Academy and its relations with other institutions.
Academician Kamenova presented a comprehensive report on the overall work of BASA in 2016.
BASA's financial statement for 2016 was made by Academician Ekaterina Tityanova, Chairman of the Academic Control Board.
Academician Iskra Hristozova presented the new members of BASA.
The work plans for 2017 for the departments of BASA were presented, as follows:
‒ by Academician Drozdstoy Stoyanov - Head of Science Department;
‒ by Academician Roumen Leonidov - Head of Art Department;
‒ by Academician Lilia Raicheva, who replaced Academician Hristo Grigorov - Head of Department "National and Civil Merits".
The work of the General meeting was marked the constructive approach of the participants and outlined the prospects for the further successful development of the Academy.
After the closing of the meeting members of the BASA and attending guests had made a photo.
