Autumn session of the General Assembly of BASA 2017
On October 28, 2017 was hold the autumn session of the General Assembly of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA).
The meeting was opened and led by its chairman Academician Dobrin Svinarov.
Academic Choir Gusla, headed by Academician Valentin Bobevsky, performed "Mila Rodino", "Shumi Maritza", "Walk, Peoples Revived", "Mnogaia Leta", "One Covenant".

The World Music Day was celebrated by BASA
On the occasion of the World Music Day - October 1, 2017, in the chamber hall "Bulgaria", Sofia, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) held a National Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to the contemporary state of Bulgarian musical art. The conference was held under the auspices of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mrs. Iliana Yotova.
Presentation of the new book by Academician Ivanka Deneva "The Enigma of the Time" in the town of Leiden (Netherlands)
The writer academician Ivanka Deneva visited one of the most important spiritual centers of Europe and the Netherlands - the town of Leiden. The creative meeting on the eve of the People's Enlightener Day - November 1, was held at the invitation of the Director A. Semerdzhieva and the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Cultural Institute was attended by lecturers, representatives of the Bulgarian community, students and parents.
Academician Kalina Bogoeva turned 80
On October 21, 2017, the Sofia Opera and Ballet celebrated the 80th anniversary of the prominent representative of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA), the prima ballerina, ballet pedagogue and choreographer, Academician Kalina Bogoeva. The event was part of the Don Quixote ballet show by Ludwig Mincus under the direction of Boris Spassov.
Academician Ivan Gazdov presented his new exhibition
On 30th September 2017 INTRO Gallery, Тsar Samuil 28 str., Sofia, was opened with new works of the greatest master of the individual graphic language – the artist Ivan Gazdov who has created and mostly important – constantly affirming the unique graphic aesthetic world "Graficature" ® (registered mark for Europe. For the first time, the cycle "Currente calamo" ("Offhand" ("with running pen") – a Roman saying) and another one "Dogs and cats" will be displayed. The first cycle bears the concept of the human amongst nature and the living world, where he (the human) is a metaphorical counterpoint. "Dogs and cats" is a cycle radiating joy and loving pleasure of communicating with animals. Etchings from the cycle "Grotesques" were shown for the first time.
Acad. Grigor Velev took part in a broadcast of the Bulgarian National Radio
On July 19, 2017, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) Academician Prof. Grigor Velev participated in the broadcasting of the Bulgarian National Radio - program "Hristo Botev", which was dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of the Bulgarian Freedom Vasil Levski. Transmission entitled "Silenced murder of Vasil Lavskiy" was within the rubric "Silenced history" led by Academician Rumen Leonidov. Participants were also the writer Neda Antonova, the literary critic Georgi Tsankov and the historian Yanko Gochev.
The New Middle Ages in "Modern Times"
On June 26, 2017, in hall "Oval" of the Bulgarian Red Cross was held economic forum organized by the Center for Economic Strategies and Research at BASA, on topic "The new economy and new forms of employment (cognitariat, precarious and lumpenproletariat '). Acad. Prof. Nako Stefanov was lecturer who raised a number of issues for debate on new forms of work and employment in social and creative economy in the conditions of globalization and information and communication revolution.
Participation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts at the Jubilee Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research – IAMCR
On the coast of the Caribbean - in Cartagena de Indias - Colombia, where eternal summer surrounds the Marquez spirit, from 16 to 20 July 2017, scientists from all over the world met at a recent conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research - IAMCR. The motto of the traditional academic forum this year was "Transforming culture, politics and communication: new media, new territories, new discourses."

On June 26, 2017 was held a meeting of the Academic Council of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA).
The Chairman of BASA Acad. Prof. Dr. Grigor Velev opened the meeting. The chief secretary of BASA Acad. Margarita Kamenova reports to the board the resolutions of the Nominations Committee for the admission of new members of BASA and the promotion of current members. Following the discussions and voting, the proposals were adopted unanimously.

National Conference "Life and Work of Vasil Levski"
On July 6, 2017, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) organized and held a National Conference on "Life and Work of Vasil Levski" dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of Bulgarian Freedom.

Institute for Innovations
The Institute for Innovations was founded in October 2016. The director of the Institute is corresponding member of BASA prof. Georgi Lambadzhiev.
Activity
The Institute for Innovation is a voluntary organization of innovators and experts, which is aimed at seeking a solution to technological, technical, managerial, methodological problems, processing or synthesis of new psychological aptitude or technologies to stimulate personal creativity, study of processes related to search for innovative solutions, theoretical modeling of creative processes and their computer simulation, theoretical modeling of structures and processes of the frontiers of knowledge, synthesis of new solutions and paradigms in interdisciplinary fields, affirming the spiritual values of people, opposed to drunkenness, drug addiction, suicide and others.
The forms of decision to problems are: know-how, patent, rationalization, algorithm, software and other.

Jubilee Exhibition of Hristo Staykov
Academia Gallery presents the Jubilee Exhibition of acad. Hristo Staykov – Graphic artworks and drawings. The exhibition was opened on 11th May 2017 and can be visited until 8th June 2017.
Bulgarian National Cause
On 17.05.2017 at the Central Military Club in Sofia, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) Academician Professor Dr Grigor Velev presented a lecture on "The Bulgarian National Cause" to the officers of the RBA Club "Olimpi Panov" and the Association Artillery "Vladimir Vazov". Attended also by BASA members.
Academician Velev acquainted the representative audience with a number of interesting and little-known historical facts on the subject under consideration.

First Eastern European Conference of Mental Health
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts was an academic sponsor in the first European Conference of Mental Health which took place in Galati, Romania on 11 – 14 May 2017. Professors and doctors from Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Albania, Germany, Italy, Austria and USA participated in it.

Since March 30, 2017 the Academic circus "Balkanski" presents in Sofia, at the beginning of Vazrazhdane park, his new performance with producer the Circus director Alexander Balkanski - Academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) and director of the creative institute "Theater, Circus and Cinema art" at BASA.
