Bulgarian National Cause

On 17.05.2017 at the Central Military Club in Sofia, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA) Academician Professor Dr Grigor Velev presented a lecture on "The Bulgarian National Cause" to the officers of the RBA Club "Olimpi Panov" and the Association Artillery "Vladimir Vazov". Attended also by BASA members.
Academician Velev acquainted the representative audience with a number of interesting and little-known historical facts on the subject under consideration.
─ Prerequisites for the formulation of the Bulgarian national cause;

─ The Bulgarian national doctrine in the 21st century and the associated with it national idea, ideal, cause and interest;
─ The Bulgarian national idea, its origins and development and the functions it performs for the preservation, development and growth of the Bulgarian state and its establishment as a third civilization center in Europe;
─ The Bulgarian national ideal as a long-term strategic goal for sustainable development of the Bulgarian nation and state for the establishment of Bulgaria as a free, independent, democratic, strong and prosperous state in the 21st century - a spiritual unity of the Bulgarian nation and support of the Bulgarians in the world;
─ The National Cause - as a conscious and irrevocable striving for the realization of our national ideal and the accomplished eight national causes in the different historical periods of our development;
─ First Bulgarian National Cause (1762 - 1878) - Protection of the Bulgarian National Identity;
─ Second Bulgarian National Cause (1870) - struggle for an independent Bulgarian Church and legitimation of the Bulgarian nation;
─ Third Bulgarian National Cause (1870 - 1878) - Freedom and National Independence;
─ Fourth Bulgarian national cause - united or great Bulgaria;
─ Fifth Bulgarian National Cause - our country after the Neuilly Peace Treaty and after the Second World War;
─ Sixth Bulgarian National Cause - Restoration of Democracy and Market Economy;
─ Seventh Bulgarian National Cause - our participation in NATO as a guarantee for the security of a democratic Bulgaria;
─ Eight Bulgarian National Cause - Bulgaria - Member of the European Union (01.01.2007).
