Academic Council of BASA - 26.06.2017.
On June 26, 2017 was held a meeting of the Academic Council of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA).
The Chairman of BASA Acad. Prof. Dr. Grigor Velev opened the meeting. The chief secretary of BASA Acad. Margarita Kamenova reports to the board the resolutions of the Nominations Committee for the admission of new members of BASA and the promotion of current members. Following the discussions and voting, the proposals were adopted unanimously.

The Academic Council was acquainted by academician Velev, academician Kamenova, academician Rumen Leonidov and a corresponding member Kostadin Kostadinov with the preparations for the 180th anniversary of the birth of Vasil Levski.
03.07.2017 г. from 17: 00 – a discussion lecture on „Was religious and was Vasil Levski judged?", presented by Acad. Marin Kadiev, was held in the city of Sofia.
06.07.2017 г. from 18:00 – National Conference on "Life and Work of Vasil Levski" held in Sofia Hall of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Sofia. The conference will be attended by members of BASA, as well as other prominent scientists and writers.
12.07.2017 from 18:00 – Lecture on the life and work of Levski at "Ivan Vazov" Public Library – Plovdiv, presented by Academician Marin Kadiev.
14.07.2017 г. – BASA will participate in the dedication of the monument of Vasil Levski at the Georgi S. Rakovski Military Academy".
At the suggestion of Academician Velev was discussed the establishment of the Georgi Stoykov Rakovski commemoration committee and a conference in this regard.
Academician Emil Yanev informed about the upcoming initiatives of BASA members:
The Music and Dance Creative Center, together with the Science Center „Media and Public Communications "organized a conference on October 1, 2017 on the occasion of the International Day of Music and Poetry. The conference will be held on Oct. 1, 2017 from 14:00 to 18:00 in the chamber hall "Bulgaria".
On September 6, 2017 in the village of Pobeda, Yambol District, corresponding member Vasil Gerlimov participated in the celebrations on the occasion of the Unification Day. Acad. Yanev suggested BASA to be officially invited and handed honorary diplomas to the participants.
The Academic Council also discussed the publishing activity of BASA.
Academician Margarita Kamenova proposed that the autumn session of the General Assembly of BASA be held on October 21, 2017 (Saturday). The Academic Council unanimously accepted the proposal.
